Who was I before chronic illness?

Who was I before chronic illness?
 I was
       – A Texan and an American
       -A mother
      – A wife
      – A Texas A&M Aggie
      – An avid reader
      – A daughter, sister, and an aunt
      – An appreciator of nature
      – A lover of good food
      – A friend
      – A listener
      – A dreamer

Quite often I feel that I have “lost” who I am because I have lost the ability to do so many things that I once enjoyed. But when I look at this list I see that who I am has not essentially changed, the only thing that has changed is what I can do. Sure I can’t do a lot of the things I used to do, but I am still me, and that is the most important thing.
