The happiest people

“The happiest people I know are not those who find their
golden ticket; they are those who,
while in pursuit
of worthy goals, discover and treasure the beauty and
sweetness of the everyday moments.”

I love this quote, it is definitely something I try to live by. I’m generally not good at slowing down enough to treasure the moments, but I’m getting better at it.  I guess that is the benefit of being forced to slow down by your own body. All too often in life we are in too big a hurry to notice the small and important things.

Yesterday I was sitting outside waiting for my daughter’s bus when I noticed some of the leaves were starting to fall off the trees. Here in Texas we don’t get a pretty fall, leaves just turn brown and die off, but I was reminded of the beautiful fall weather I grew up with. There is nothing more beautiful than the greens, yellows, oranges, and reds that paint the scene of fall. Despite living in Texas for the last 10 years fall to me means raking leaves, roasting apples over the fire, and pumpkin, pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin cookies. I love fall! I’m glad I took a moment to just enjoy.
