New insight into how brain responds to pain

This research investigates the role of brain plasticity in the development of chronic pain. The study involved the simple task of moving a thumb as quickly as possible in a specific direction. Usually in this type of task individuals performance improves over time, but the people with chronic pain did not get better at the task and there was no associated change in the brain. According to the doctor directing the study, “These results provide a novel and important insight into the cause of chronic pain, and could eventually help in the development of a more targeted treatment for chronic pain conditions.”

I interpret this study to mean it’s not my fault that I can’t seem to remember anything or focus on any complicated tasks anymore!
