I received this book from Bethany House Publishers for review.
I loved the subject matter and the setting of this book. It’s a great mystery where the solution isn’t too easy but not ridiculously complicated either. A few questions were left unanswered however and that bothered me throughout the book. I also had a difficulty getting into the characters. The principle love story between Kayden and Jake was not believable or all that romantic. I felt like their previous issues were too quickly glossed over and their relationship just never made sense and felt very contrived. I also found Kayden to be an annoying main character who was convinced of her own superiority. I don’t think this was a terrible book it just did not manage to win me over. The book just seemed to go on and on and I kept waiting for it to wow me and it never did. Still, I think previous fans of the series will find it an enjoyable continuation.
