The ultimate gift guide for mothers with Fibromyalgia

Mother’s Day means it’s time for gift ideas for mothers with Fibromyalgia. May is such a crazy month that it seems like Mother’s day always gets put on the back burner. Normally I get annoyed because my kids and my husband cook breakfast for me, and then leave the dishes for me to clean up (isn’t that just a great example of what it’s like to be a mother). This year however we will have just moved the day before, so it’s not likely that we’ll know where any of the dishes are. So at least I won’t have to clean anything!

Mother’s day comes with a lot of guilt for many mothers. For mothers with a chronic illness, there is a whole different layer of guilt. Parenting with chronic illness is hard. Often kids just don’t understand why their sick parent can’t do everything that other parents do. So to make life a little easier for mothers with chronic illness, here are a few things that might help them cope.

Gifts ideas for mothers with Fibromyalgia

Budget Items

  1. BioFreeze Pain Relief Gel

BioFreeze is my favorite over-the-counter pain reliever. Though the effect is temporary, it does actually minimize pain.

2. Hot/Cold Therapeutic Wrap

These therapeutic wraps don’t cure pain, but they are a great coping mechanism (especially when using an electric heating pad isn’t going to work). Plus it’s nice to have the option of using hot or cold.

3. Waterproof speaker for the bathroom

These speakers are perfect for the mother who likes to take a bath to rest her sore muscles. Adding a little music to the bath routine can be even more relaxing.

4. Bathtub Pillow

Yes, I may be obsessed with baths, but a bathtub pillow feels amazing when you just want to lie back and relax. This one has been on my wish list for a while.

5. Echo Dot

As I mentioned on last year’s Christmas list, I made fun of my husband when he became obsessed with the Alexa Echo Dot. I’ve eaten my words since then because I’ve found them to be very useful. My favorite thing is that he connected it to smart light bulbs and now we can turn off the lights with voice commands.

6. Chronic Illness Subscription Box

When you have a chronic illness it can be really helpful to have something to look forward to. A subscription box is a gift that keeps on giving. There are several different options out there. Some options are a CalmBox, or Caring Crate.

7. Instant Pot

I’ve gushed about my instant pot before. It’s a huge time saver, and because it has so many functions there are fewer dishes to clean. Last week I had to make 20 baked potatoes for a big dinner. I stuffed them all in my instant pot and 40 minutes later they were done! I have a bunch of favorite recipes I may share in a future post because they are huge time savers.

8. Roomba

I told my husband when we got married that he was never to give me any sort of cleaning or cooking supplies as a gift because this ain’t that kind of marriage and we don’t do that kind of gender roles. I also told him if he did I would buy him a lawnmower or get his oil changed in exchange. Luckily for him, he took me seriously in that threat. However, I did ask for a Roomba last Christmas and granted him an exception on the cleaning supply rule because I wanted it so badly. It has not disappointed me. I use my Roomba every day, and it has saved me from constantly sweeping and vacuuming. I would have a complete meltdown if my Roomba died, that’s how much I love it.
